The K12 Program

The National Career Development Program for Researchers in Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology (K12 Program) leverages expertise from five academic institutions to enhance training opportunities for the next generation of pediatric clinical pharmacologists.

The K12 program brings together faculty professionals specializing in a wide range of subjects, including clinical research, drug metabolism, pharmacometrics, pharmacogenomics, pharmacoepidemiology, metabolomics, and translational research. Program faculty mentors are grouped into three areas of subject matter expertise:

  • Pharmacokinetics/ Pharmacodynamics and Clinical Trials
  • Pharmacoepidemiology and Data Science
  • Translational Research

This program's expertise spans five academic institutions: Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), the University of California-San Diego (UCSD), Children's Mercy Kansas City (CMKC), and the University of Utah (Utah). Funding for the program comes from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).
